Protea sp.
This print is created in an art workshop, signed, numbered and limited to 150 prints, from an original botanical watercolor. Protea pertains to an old familie of flowers witch grow mainly in South Africa . The name " Protea " was given in 1771 by Carl Linnaeus : some plants of the Cape had been sent to him and he has used the name of the Greek god Proteus, who could change shape when he wanted, because instead of making prophecies, he preferred to descourage those who were looking for him, and from the same basic flower, this type shows an amazing variation of shapes and colors depending on the species. The protea symbolizes the diversity and courage and is the emblem of South Africa.
