Japanese maple

Japanese maple

Acer palmatum
This print is a fine art, signed, numbered & limited to 150 copies print, from a botanical watercolor original. Originally from Japan, this tree arrived in Europe thanks to Carl Thunberg, who was a Swedish botanist and protected from Carl Linnaeus who traveled to Japan in the late 1700s ; but already at that time, Japanese horticulturists had developed more than 250 red-leaved maple cultivars. It is indeed a very pretty shrub that seduces by the shimmering colors that its leaves take in autumn, from bronze green to tender green passing by bright orange, scarlet red or dark purple.
